Code of ethics
(Extract from the code of ethics of the Syndicat des Kinésiologues Professionnels de France)
Since kinesiology is not a therapy or form of medicine intended to treat specific symptoms or diseases, I undertake to:
Establish no diagnosis, no prognosis, no treatment and no medical prescription.
Respect in all respects and without restriction the rights of the person and the applicable legislation.
Remind my clients that the kinesiologist is not a healthcare practitioner and that kinesiology does not offer specific techniques to cure any given symptom or disease. For any medical issue, I systematically refer my clients to a competent and authorised authority.
I undertake to abstain from:
Any request to interrupt an ongoing medical treatment, or from presenting kinesiology as an alternative to medical treatments.
Adding to or altering kinesiology with practices foreign to its methods and field (occult practices, shamanism, mediumship, divination, etc.).
Misusing the muscle test in an unethical way, for example by claiming to predict the future, asserting a “truth”, or making a CHOICE on behalf of my client.
I undertake to abstain from any political, religious or belief‑based proselytism and to fully respect the beliefs of others, adopting an attitude that excludes any form of judgement, whether positive or negative.
I undertake to fully respect professional confidentiality, in particular in regard to my clients’ anonymity.
I undertake to inform my clients whenever I use a technique other than kinesiology.
I undertake to set a reasonable duration and fee for each session.
I undertake to know and acknowledge the limits of my own competences, to work in an interdisciplinary way and, whenever appropriate, to refer my client to a more qualified professional.
I undertake to care for my own development by regularly engaging in supervision.
I undertake to work in a place where the safety of my clients is ensured.
